Retailer Guide
Running your supermarket account in Klug Insights
Klug connects supermarket, manufacturer, and shopper data so consumers can compare real grocery prices while business teams manage the data that powers those experiences. For retailers, Klug Insights is where supermarket teams maintain branch locations, product availability, branch prices, stock status, discounts, and team access.
This retailer guide focuses only on supermarket workflows. It does not cover manufacturer brand claims or manufacturer SKU reporting.
Info
Shoppers rely on branch-level data. Your company must be verified, the branch must have a location, the product must be matched and assigned to that branch, and a branch price must be saved before the item is useful in shopper-facing price comparison.Setup sequence
Use this order when setting up a retailer account or cleaning up an existing one:
- Submit company verification from Settings.
- Add every physical branch with a correct map location.
- Submit products individually or by CSV bulk upload.
- Review product match status in Submitted products.
- Assign matched products to the branches where they are sold.
- Set branch-level prices, discounts, and stock status.
Dashboard
Open the Dashboard to check product and price health at a glance. It shows submitted products, mapped products, unmapped products, and active prices.
If mapped product counts are low, review Submitted products before assigning products or setting branch prices.
Settings and verification
Open Settings to update your profile and submit company verification. Verification is reviewed by Klug. Until the company is approved, some live consumer-facing actions, especially price submission, may be limited.
If verification is rejected, review the message shown in the portal and contact Klug support before re-applying.
Branches
Open Branches and create one branch for each physical supermarket location. Use the public branch name shoppers recognise.
- Set the map location with the branch location picker.
- Keep names consistent with storefront signage and receipts.
- Update the branch when a store relocates or changes name.
Products
Use Single product for one item, or Bulk upload for a CSV. Clear product names, pack sizes, and barcodes help Klug match your submission to the correct catalogue product.
Info
RRP is a reference price for your team. It helps pre-fill and validate later pricing work, but shoppers do not see it until a branch-level price is saved.Review matched and unmapped items in Submitted products. Matched products can be assigned and priced by branch. Unmapped products may need Klug review before they work fully in shopper flows.
Bulk upload
The bulk upload flow lets you upload a CSV, review automatic matching, remove unclear rows, and commit only when the review is complete. Nothing is saved until you click the final commit action.
- Barcode matches are usually the strongest matches.
- Name matches should be checked for pack size and variant.
- No-match rows can still be submitted for Klug mapping review.
Branch assignments
Open Branch assignments to choose where each product is sold. A product can be assigned to several branches at once.
If a product is temporarily unavailable at a branch, mark it unavailable rather than deleting the product from your account.
Prices and discounts
Open Prices to set branch-level prices and stock status. Expand a product, select one or more branches, choose a price, set stock status, and save.
- Prices must be attached to a branch before shoppers can see them.
- Discounts are entered as an amount off, for example KES 20 off.
- Temporary discounts should have an expiry date.
- Expired discounts stop showing automatically.
You can also apply branch-specific promotions from Branch assignments by selecting assignment rows and using the bulk discount action.
What shoppers see
Klug shopper experiences use verified branch and branch price data. The main drivers of visibility are company verification, branch location, product matching, branch assignment, branch price, discount expiry, and stock status.
Admin users
Open Admin users to manage people who can access your retailer account. Keep access limited to teammates who need to update catalogue, branch, or price data.
FAQs
Can one branch have a discount while another does not?
Yes. Apply the discount only to selected branch assignments or selected branches in the price editor.
Why is my RRP not visible to shoppers?
RRP is saved without a branch. Shoppers see branch-level prices only.
What should I do when an item is out of stock?
Update stock status or mark the branch assignment unavailable so shoppers do not rely on stale availability.
